Hi all,
The EPA proposed some big changes to the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) that could significantly raise fuel production costs for refineries — and ultimately, consumers. In fact, there’s an analysis showing these RFS biofuel mandates could cost about $70 billion a year, roughly twice as much as any prior year. And, as written, this policy is going to make us more dependent on imported fuels. Seriously.
That’s why we need your help. We have until August 8 to urge EPA to fix this proposal.
It only takes a minute to send a comment through AFPM EMPOWER.
We have more background information for you about this specific proposal and the RFS, writ large, at the EMPOWER website. And just to highlight one more thing… there’s a simple change the EPA can make that would cut the red tape costs of RFS in HALF, without reducing ANY biofuel blending. That should be a no-brainer for the Trump administration.
Like I said, use our EMPOWER action page to submit a comment by August 8. And if you have any questions in the meantime, send me a note. I’ve been an RFS policy nerd for YEARS and I’d be happy to get into the weeds.
Thank you for standing up for our industry.
